The easiest way to incorporate plants into your life is to decorate your surroundings with them. Even the most die-hard of modern minimalists will put at least a plant or two (fake or otherwise) into their residence to add some greenery and life.

Soften those hard angles and edges in your home with lush houseplants or colorful bouquets of fresh flowers. Your mental health will thank you and your residence will become much more cozy and welcoming.

Growing Your Own Food

One of the best ways to use plants for self care is to know exactly what you are consuming. Growing your own food allows you to limit your amount of exposure to pesticides and toxins sprayed by commercial agriculture. Not only is growing your own food much healthier, your produce will taste fresh and flavorful. There’s nothing quite like plucking ripe tomatoes or raspberries off the vine and eating them right in the garden.

The amount of personal satisfaction and accomplishment is also a huge benefit to growing your own food. In this day and age, fewer and fewer people realize where their food comes from. Even fewer know how to garden. Being able to harvest a bounty of veggies to share with family and friends is something to take pride in.
